Shoe Makeover /// Breathe New Life Into Scuffed Up Heels

Old Shoe Makeover: Save Those Scuffed Up Heels /// By Design Fixation
These wedges are the most comfortable pair of heels I’ve ever owned. But when I wore them to my friend’s wedding in the woods of Maine, they got totally scuffed up… so much so that even a magic eraser couldn’t fix them. But being so comfortable, I didn’t want to give up on them yet.

So I painted them with a coat of gold Liquid Leaf. As you can see from the image above, there is a drastic difference between the unpainted area on the left and the painted section on the right.

There’s nothing complicated about the application, just make sure you use a flat brush so you can achieve very precise edges. I would not recommend painting the inside of the shoe, just the exterior surface.

Quite a difference, right?! And the Liquid Leaf is oil-based, too, so it repels water! It would also be fun to add the color to only certain areas of the shoe… I’m considering giving an old pair of flats a makeover by painting a large triangle on the front section by the toe.

Liquid Leaf comes in silver and copper too, if gold isn’t your jam. Check out more DIY shoe projects and makeovers here.
