I live in a 525 square foot condo, so I’m always on the hunt for great space-saving products and ideas. I’ve accumulated quite an arsenal over the years, so I wanted to share some of my favorites with you. So here goes… click “Read more” to check out my 10 tips and ideas to make your space feel larger than it really is.

1. BUY CLEAR FURNITURE. Lucite chairs will make your dining table feel smaller. Clear glass coffee tables have the same minimizing effect. Which leads me to my next point….

2. LAYER YOUR FURNITURE. Buy some poufs and place them under your glass coffee table. Or put two ottomans under a console table. Here’s some more layered furniture inspiration.

3. HANG THINGS FROM THE CEILING. People rarely use the ceiling for anything, but don’t overlook it… you can hang any number of things from it such as clothing racks, plants, lights, etc.

4. MOUNT THINGS ON THE WALL. Try using wall space to your advantage by mounting your bedside table on the wall. Any number of other things can be attached to the wall too… I have a wall-mounted soap dispenser in the bathroom because we have very little counter space.

5. UTILIZE COAT RACKS FOR OTHER PURPOSES. Like jewelry storage. Or you can hang coffee mugs from the hooks. Or purses. Think outside the box!

6. BUY A SET OF NESTING TABLES. These are great because you can adjust them according to your needs; if you’re doing a project, spread the tables apart so you have lots of surface area to work with. Or if you’re entertaining and need space for people to walk around, nest the tables underneath one another.

7. TRY STACKING STORAGE. Instead of putting three jars on the counter, use one stacking storage container like the one above. It has a smaller footprint, and it looks cool! Something like this could be used in the bathroom for cotton balls and Q-tips too.

8. USE THE INSIDES OF DOORS. Hang a shoe organizer on the inside of the pantry door to hold smaller items like utensils or spices. I also use a shoe organizer for my sewing materials and my art supplies.

9. ADD CASTERS TO FURNITURE. Wheels make furniture mobile, giving you flexibility… you can rearrange items according to what you’re doing. It also makes cleaning infinitely easier!

10. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF VERTICAL SPACE. Try to buy shelves that reach the ceiling, and use a ladder to reach the top. Also, don’t forget about the space above your kitchen cabinets, and even above doors.
