Pashmina Refashion Tutorial /// Easy DIY 6-Way Convertible Scarf

Pashmina Refashion Tutorial : Easy DIY 6-Way Convertible Scarf
The other day I went to brunch in Boston’s lovely South End to celebrate my friend Megan’s birthday, and she was wearing the most gorgeous cashmere cape. She told me it could be converted into a couple of different styles, and it got me thinking… I have about a million pashmina scarves that I rarely wear… I wonder if I could refashion one such that it could be worn in a variety of different ways? The answer is yes. 6 ways, in fact.
And it literally takes 5 minutes to refashion the pashmina. Click “read more” to see the incredibly easy tutorial and to find out how to recreate each look.

Here are the super easy instructions:

3. Measure 14″ down from the fold and begin sewing from that point down to the bottom.

4. Open it so the wrong side is facing up. Fold the raw edge on the right toward you, and then fold it over again. Sew all the way down that edge. And you’re finished! Now you have a brand new convertible scarf! Next, check out the six different styles:

1. Asymmetrical Cape /// Put your head through the hole and place the seam along one shoulder. Pull the area by your neck down so it droops a bit. Head over here to see videos of me demonstrating this and the other five styles.
2. Scarf /// Put one hand through the hole and hold the ends with the other. Put it around your neck and pull the ends through the hole.
3. Traditional Cape /// Pull it over your head with the seam situated in the front, creating a v-neck.

4. Giant Cowl /// This is a high-low look; place the seam in the back, and the rest of the fabric in the front. Pull the fabric down to create the cowl shape.
5. Open Back Top /// The seam runs down the front on this one, and all the fabric is pulled around to the front. Hold the bottom corners and pull them tight around your waist, knotting or pinning in the back. You may need to put a safety pin on the inside of the bust area so as not to reveal too much!
6. Shawl /// Begin with the seam on the front, and put your head through the hole. Pull the ends to the front, up through the v-neck and around to the front.
So, what do you think? Easy and super fun, right? I’ve been wearing mine nonstop. It’s great for this chilly fall weather we’ve been having up here in Boston. And be sure to check out the how-to videos – six short clips that demonstrate how to recreate each style!
