A Michaels Makeover!

Last night I had the pleasure of attending an event at my local Michaels store over in Saugus, Massachusetts. I was invited, along with a group of other area bloggers, to tour the store and try my hand at a fun paper crafting project. They taught us how to make these fun Boston skyline pieces:

If you’re interested in making your own, all you have to do is trace the skyline on the back of a piece of scrapbook paper. Then cut it out with an X-Acto knife, and glue it to a black canvas. Easy peasy! They showed us how it’s done in their newly-renovated classroom area:

And yes, there was indeed a reason for all this excitement… 27 area Michaels stores have received major facelifts, re-doing everything from the layout of the stores, to the signage, to what the employees wear to work – red.

As they led us around the new, more spacious aisles of the store, I had to stop myself from drooling all over pretty much everything in the store:

And here’s the really exciting part – many locations, including the Saugus store, are throwing a big bash on Sunday to celebrate their new look! And if Sunday is anything like last night, it will be a blast. So if you live in the Boston area, you might want to check it out. Here are the deets:

WHO /// Michaels Arts & Crafts
WHAT /// A Grand Re-Opening
WHERE /// 607 Broadway in Saugus, Massachusetts
WHEN /// Sunday, May 4th, 2014 beginning at 9:45 AM
WHY /// They’ll be giving away gift cards, and you can enter to win an Ottlite Desk Lamp

*Also* Jo Pearson from TLC’s Craft Wars will be touring nearby stores throughout the week: Monday, May 5th from 4-6 at the Danvers store, Tuesday the 6th from 4-6 at the Stoneham store, Wednesday the 7th from 4-6 at the Everett store, Thursday the 8th from 4-6 at the Chelmsford store, and Friday the 9th from 4-6 at the Saugus store.

And if you don’t live nearby, you can always browse their website… they have lots of great DIY ideas in their “get inspired” section. Happy crafting!

Although this post was sponsored by Michaels, all opinions are 100% my own.
