Design Fixation: A Modern Take On Curtains For The Living Room

A Modern Take On Curtains For The Living Room

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

This weekend we have big plans to paint our living room... and once that's finished we're planning to hang new curtains. So I've been on the hunt for interesting, modern window treatments. I like the layered look of the fifth image above, and I'm also intrigued by the idea of a strip of color down the inner edges of the panels, shown in the first image. And I absolutely adore these two-toned color blocked curtain panels.. so chic!

What sort of window treatments do you have in your home?

  1. where did you find the 5th picture? I love them

  2. I found the 5th photo on Pinterest, but the Pinterest link didn't lead anywhere unfortunately. If anybody out there has the original source, let us know!

  3. The bottom of the page on the 5th photo says pottery barn. I'm checking there. I've been looking for something exactly like that look!

  4. Found this through pinterest. Love all of the curtain ideas you've shown here.

  5. The curtains in the fifth picture can be found on The pattern curtains are called Kendra Sheer Trellis Pole Pocket Drape in Gray. The solid curtains are called Emery Linen/Cotton Pole Pocket Drape in Gray.

  6. Hi , I love those selections .
I was wondering if you could give me some decorating advice ? 😀
I have a sliding door and a average size window on the same wall , if I put drapes up on both I have almost a solid wall of drapes besides the approx 18 inches in between .
Any suggestions for window treatments ?

    1. Hi Linda - I might recommend trying two different (but complimentary) window treatments... perhaps traditional drapes on the sliding door, and a woven roller shade and box valance combo on the window. That way, the different textures will break up the look a bit. Hope this helps!
